Heather's passion for singing led her to pageantry along with the push of her Mother, Helen. Heather spent 7 years competing in pageants as a teenager and young adult.    Since 1995 she has been a director, judge, entertainer and volunteer in the Miss America System. Currently she volunteers as the Mental Management Trainer for the Miss Plano/Frisco Organization in Texas. She is the Director of Customer Relations with Mental Management Systems and is a certified instructor of Mental Management to pageant competitors and stage performers including the former Miss Texas, Shilah Phillips, 1st Runner Up to Miss America.  A few years ago Heather recorded a country music album entitled "One" featuring original songs telling her story, hoping to pursue a career in music.  She later traded her goal of center stage for marriage and family.  She is married to Richard Sumlin and they have two children, Ashley, 2 and Austin, 10.  Heather was a single mother for 6 years and owes much of her success in life to her faith, the lessons of Mental Management principles and the amazing words of wisdom from her little boy, Austin.
